Today we celebrated our baby's first birthday! James, of course, had no idea what was going on but first birthday's are so fun! When he woke up we let him open a couple gifts that Mama Sholes and Grandpa (Jay's parents) brought with them. Like many other kids I've seen there were times when he was interested in the paper and the boxes more than the actual gift.
Jay and I got him this little riding toy and he really seems to love it. He loves to put things in the seat and push all the buttons that make lots of noises. In our small apartment, no matter where you are you can hear Leo's voice over and over and over... :)
After we all got ready we took a long walk down part of 5th avenue then through Central Park. It turned out to be a beautiful day and I'm so glad to see the signs of spring coming through.
This picture was along 5th ave and you can see the ice cream truck in the background... along with spring come the sounds of the ice cream truck :)
I love taking pictures in Central Park. It's an amazing piece of artwork and I love to see it during this time of year! This is the boat pond... no dogs or people allowed :)
James took a good nap along the way- he's learned to nap well in the stroller and usually wakes up when I stop walking :)
This is the famous angel fountain that's seen in a lot of movies... I'm sure it has a official name, but I can't think of it.
Beautiful big trees along the mall,
and lots of blooms along the way.
Then we went to Mickey Mantle's restaurant, a request of Jim's (Jay's dad)- also in honor of opening day at the new Yankee stadium. There were lots of things for James to look at so that kept him busy :)
After lunch James had his 1 year pictures taken and mommy and daddy were suckered into buying more than we planned :(
It's so hard to believe that a year ago today we were at St. Luke's Roosevelt with our newborn baby boy. He brings so much joy to my life, so much love and happiness and I can't imagine our life without him. In the cab ride to the hospital last year I remember thinking that our life would be so different from then on, I just never knew how blessed I would feel to be a mom. I thank my Lord for so many things- among them my husband and my sweet baby James!

Oh, happy birthday sweet boy! They sure do change your life - but for the better. I have learned so many lessons about my heavenly father through being a parent.
Is that boy ever grumpy?? I want a picture as proof. He seems to be so, so happy all the time!
So SWEET!!! What a fun day :) Beautiful pics, too! He is quite a special guy!
