A Prayerful Week
This has been a week full of anxiety, prayers, and doctor's visits. 2 Wednesday's ago, at a regular 21 month check-up at the pediatrician's office, James' doctor felt something swollen in his abdomen. So the following Wednesday I had to take him in for an ultrasound. He lay there for about 15-20 minutes, his hands up by his head, while the technician probed around and took almost 170 images. Another doctor came in to look, then they said my pediatrician would receive the report and get in touch with me. Within an hour of getting home, she called. They'd found a strand of swollen lymph nodes. So we began to worry. I knew what it could be. At first they said to have another ultrasound in a month to see if the nodes had decreased in size, if so then it was most likely caused by a virus of some sort. But James was healthy, no diarrhea or anything. Then our pediatrician spoke to a specialist who recommended blood work as soon as possible. What we didn't know, was that every doctor in the office was looking into this for us, they all knew about the case, they all gave input etc. So, Friday we took him back to the doctor for blood work. So sad to see them hold down his arm and draw a couple vile of blood. Of course he screamed, but otherwise I have brag that he is the best patient. Our pediatrician thinks he is hilarious because he likes being examined. He lays on the table, wants her to use the stethoscope and the thing to look in his eyes and ears. It's pretty funny. Anyway, after we talked to her for a while we went home and waited. This morning they called to say that his first round of blood tests came back normal, which means he most likely doesn't have a type of cancer. Praise God! More blood results come back Monday so we'll wait until then to see what our next move will be. Please pray for James, that these swollen lymph nodes are not serious and that they will reduce in size. James is smiling and laughing like normal. He hasn't the slightest idea what is going on, and I guess I'm glad for that. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
