An assortment of activity

This is a post with various topics, thus it might be long:

First- I want to share with you an amazing story that a friend of mine posted on her blog. Actually I'll just let you read it here.

Second- I'll just tell you that I had quite a morning. And you'll be very glad I didn't take pictures :) James and I rode the subway with Jay to work because the stop where he gets off there is a Kmart. We got what we needed, then got in a taxi. We all know that taxi rides are not always smooth, and I didn't think much about it until James began throwing up all over the place. And when I say all over the place, I mean all over himself, me, and the backseat of the cab. When we got to our building, I carried James inside, the cab driver carried my bags inside the door, I ran upstairs and stripped James down, re-dressed him, then took a roll of paper towels and clorox wipes back down to the cab. I offered to clean it for him, but he was so sweet and understanding and said he didn't mind doing it. I gave him the roll of paper towels because he said they were handy and he should carry them with him. God blessed me with a nice and understanding driver and I was so very thankful!

Third- I'm blessed with amazing godly women around me that encourage and uplift me. I was invited to join a few women in our church in memorizing scripture. Honestly, I think the last time I memorized scripture may have been AWANA. Seriously. We are not only memorizing the words, but learning to internalize the meaning, to really study the Word with a heart and mind focused on Him. And what a place to start: 2 Peter 1: 3-11 "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way, there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

And finally- I'm not one to set new year's resolutions, I've tried and always failed before, so I just don't do it. However, seeing as how it's January, this goal of memorizing scripture is essentially a resolution. So while I'm at it I might as well tack on a few more. #1 Exercise. I've successfully completed 1 week of a RIGOROUS work out that I wanted to quit on day 1. It's 60 days and I WILL complete it. When I get into exercising, I really get into it, sometimes I probably go overboard, but there is something about feeling that exhausted, that much pain, that sore that makes me want to keep doing it. And I like checking off the box that says complete at the end of the day. # 2 Writing. And by writing I mean a complete piece. I write, but because I lack confidence, I don't complete the process. Everything stays in the draft or possible idea phase. I'm joining a writing group. I'm putting ink to paper (or in this case fingertip to key). # 3 Socializing my child. James needs to play with other kids and learn to interact with them more than 1 hour a week during nursery. So, I'm looking for playgroups (that don't cost an arm and a leg) or may consider having my own here at our place during the day. Just a thought...

And to top all this off I surprised Jay with a planned trip which we'll take in February. We're heading to Florida to visit his best friend who we haven't seen in over 2 years then we're going to New Orleans where neither of us have been before. We are taking James with us, so right now I'm sorting out details with not having a car seat on the trip, and we are searching for all the fun things we should do. If you have suggestions... send em this way!

I'll leave you with James' new word- Peace. Which he learned from Sesame Street- it's how they end the show these days. :)

First of all - do you think that is so dumb that Sesame Street ends with saying "peace?" Weird!
Secondly - I could not believe when I ready about James puking all over the cab - POOR YOU!! And truly, praise God for that sweet cab driver! You should track him down and take him cookies!
Thirdly - great resolutions. I really need to be more disciplined about scripture memory and exercise.
Lastly - great idea about hosting a play group. Pick according to moms - not kids - surround yourself with awesome women (although it sounds like you are doing a good job of that - praise the Lord!).
Love ya friend! Have a great trip!
