It was Easter Sunday, just a few weeks ago, when our beautiful German Shepherd, Gunther, died. He died from causes of Bloat and cardiac arrest. :(
this is him as a puppy
he was very good with James and all the kids, but sometimes forgot they were small :)

He was big, he shed long black hair constantly, and although he was 90 pounds he believed he was small enough to sit in your lap. Gunther would have been 5 in June and he acted every bit of a puppy as he did the first year we had him.
in central park, nyc- his ball at his feet
Everyone commented on how beautiful he was, how rare a solid black shepherd was, and it was nice to walk him here in the city and know that people would leave me alone. Little did they know he was no guard dog, he was a sweet loving dog who loved to play ball anytime and all the time.

After living with us in the city for a while, Gunther had moved in with my parents. He loved being outside all day and we realized that our small apartment with Gunther and James wasn't going to work out very well. Growing up, we had a lot of dogs and we lost a lot of dogs, but this one was different and I miss him.

Awwww, D! Thank you for sharing just a little bit more of him with us! I remember staying with him and waiting to see if he was going to run off! He LOVED having so much freedom to roam! When I got Gunner, I thought for sure I had another black German Shepherd on my hands! Now, I have a skinny, tennis-ball crazy dog that is more black lab/border collie. Thank you for letting Gunner come play with Gunther a few times when he was a baby! I'll never forget coming to the house on the day of your dad's funeral to stay with James. Gunther met me at my Jeep and when I greeted him, he instantly ran to get a stick. About 10 minutes later, you threw the same stick, and it got caught in the tree branches (yes, I saw that out the window...and it made me laugh too). I'm so sorry that you lost your dad and Gunther in such a short amount of time--I think God wanted your dad to have someone to hang out with in Heaven! Thanks again for sharing! Love you!
Gunther was just a big puppy! He was so pretty & friendly :) And I remember him trying to sit in our laps at the Super Bowl party - but we didn't care.
Awww - so sorry about your pup.
I've been absent from writting my blog and reading others. I've enjoyed getting caught up on you and your TWO YEAR OLD BOY!! Man, how time flies.
I hope you are doing well. I have really come to enjoy our little cyber relationship. :)
