Stuck

Typically I don't change James' diaper in public, but it's tough to find a decent changing facility in the city sometimes. Not very many places provide a space for us moms. So... that led to today's excitement. As soon as we got to the park this morning I recognized that all to familiar stance and expression on James' face and knew he needed to be changed. So I did what any mom would do, I found a empty bench where I wouldn't expose my son too much and started the process.
You know how park benches are, right? There's a gap between the seat and the back rest and guess what, James found out that his head just fit in there; then he turned his head and guess what, he couldn't get it out. So here he was with his bottom exposed, shorts around his ankles, and his head stuck in the park bench. He was crying, scared and tense- so he was working against me trying to turn his head. And for a moment I had two thoughts 1. I'd be a horrible mom right now if I stopped and took a picture and 2. am I going to have to ask for help or even worse call the fire department?
Then I turned his head and slowly pull him out. He said "shew mommy" between cries and I stifled a laugh, hugged him, then I finished the job and sent him to play.

Oh my goodness, only in NYC, huh??? :) I'm sure that was quite a sight, but that sweet James was quite a sport. Sooo glad everything turned out just fine!

PS- LOVE the new look of the blog!
